Job Introduction


BBC Pictures is the team responsible for producing stills images and digital assets to promote the BBC’s biggest shows – from Doctor Who to Strictly, from our FA Cup coverage to Glastonbury.
This post sits within our Interactive Design Team which is both responsible for the retouching of images and for producing Interactive Design assets to promote our programmes across a wide range of media.

Role Responsibility

To produce high quality images from supplied photography, employing high-end Photoshop techniques such as cutting-out, fine masking, compositing, colour-management and special effects, in various formats, for use in print and online media.
Also using Photoshop and other software to create interactive digital marketing assets as part of the promotional campaign process that most effectively and efficiently promote BBC content across all channels/genres.
Working closely with the Picture Campaign Executives, as well as stakeholders in Marketing & Audiences and Communications, to develop ideas and creative visual solutions for picture and interactive campaigns. To ensure that the visual concept is in line with the brief and to support the rest of the team.
To demonstrate creative visual design expertise, good workflow practice, and brand-awareness, working within deadlines and creative briefs to produce images and assets with maximum impact, usage-flexibility, and respect to the programme/channel.
To act as a source of expert creative and technical advice to photographers, Picture Campaign Executives and Creative Picture Managers.
To support the Digital Artist in managing the workflow and be responsible for ensuring that all work is produced to the highest standard that is appropriate for the campaign tier.

Must have skills for online and print

  • Compositing
  • Colour management
Desirable skills for interactive assets
  • Design of assets for web pages, emails, digital display ads
  • Animations with After Effects
  • Good typography skills
  • Help create, define and maintain design guidelines
